Reset with Zen Patting

What is Zen Patting?
Zen patting is a holistic therapy that integrates the philosophy of “Zen”(禅) and the healing technique of “Patting”(拍). Originating from Traditional Chinese medicine, it was first recorded in “The Yellow Emperor’s Inner Canon”(《黄帝内经》) 2000 years ago and has spread widely in China in recent years. It involves the practitioner using their hands to intentionally pat areas of the body, either locally or across the whole body. This releases muscle tension, aids lymphatic drainage, and activates the body’s natural healing processes.
Zen is the inner state : a state of calm, focus, and non-judgmental presence. During the practice, both the practitioner and the receiver let go of distractions and fully attend to each point of contact. The process itself is a form of meditation that brings you back into your present body.
Patting is the technique : As the practitioner's hands fall rhythmically onto the body - they create a steady, penetrating vibration that ripples through the muscles, into deeper layers, fascia and to the organs.
It’s a deeply relaxing experience that opens blocked pathways, releases emotions, and restores one’s natural state of balance.
What can Zen Patting help with?
Whilst each session is different and tailored to each individual, Zen Patting is especially effective in treating:
Accumulated stress and tension (mental and physical)
Burnout
Insomnia and other sleep disorders
Feelings of anxiety and depression
Migraines, headaches
Tense back and shoulder muscles
Digestive issues, immune system disorders, and hormonal imbalances
Zen patting also restores a sense of trust and safety within your body, releases repressed negative emotions and leaves you feeling more at ease and free in life.
When combined with talk therapy, Zen Patting can help you live your life with more authenticity and balance.

What does a Zen Patting session feel like?
Zen patting takes place in calm spaces that hold your body and mind gently.
The session will begin with a brief consultation about your needs and the issues you want to deal with. I will explain the process briefly and encourage you to relax during the session. Mutual trust and a shared goal is the foundation of an effective healing process.
During the session, you will remain clothed and covered by clean towels. The process is meditative, mindful, and deeply relaxing as the practitioner pats each focused area with full attention and presence.
Immediately, you and the practitioner will both enter a space of zen, where the mind stops racing, and the body resets into a natural rhythm. You might fall asleep or enter a deep state of rest. Each session lasts 60-90 minutes.
People who come in with repressed emotions might cry. And with some illnesses, your body might have some physical reactions as it releases toxins. Such as coughing - if you have recently had a cold. By the end of your session, you will feel lighter and much more energetic as your body returns to its natural, healthy state.
A long-term Zen patting healing process with several sessions leads you to deep self-acceptance, trust, freedom, aliveness and the capacity to stay present and confident in life.
What do the clients say?
About me
Hello, I’m Haylin, a Zen Patting practitioner from China.
Before beginning this path, I had been working for years in theatre as a director, performer and movement creative.
My background in psychology (BSc) and theatre training have given me a deep connection to body, emotion and human sensitivity.
Over time, my experience of constantly building passion projects from scratch led me into chronic burnout and my sensitivity as an actor sometimes leads me into emotional winter.
I began questioning what kind of life I really want to live, and where balance could be found.
During that search, I went to a martial arts school in China. There, unexpectedly, I met my Zen Patting mentor.
Through our conversations and sessions together, I experienced not only relief from long-held physical and emotional tension, but also a grounded and calm presence that inspired me to become more spacious, resilient and free, like her.
Zen Patting gradually became part of my own practice and daily life. I practice Chinese martial art routinely to maintain my own understandings and energy for the craft. For me, Zen Patting is the Tao of presence and care for others in a grounded, balanced way. It leads to deep trust in one’s own life and restores strength that has been depleted.
I’m grateful for where it has led me so far. In this racing world where we so often fall out of sync with ourselves, I hope to create a space where care is shared and restoring vitality becomes part of our daily life.
